Mizoram govt warns against consumption of imported ‘rohu’ fish
The state government on Friday warned people against the consumption of ‘rohu’ fish imported from outside the state following complaints that the fish smelled of kerosene oil.
A number of ‘rohu’ fish have been frozen with prohibitory orders clamped on selling the fish.
“Several samples have been sent to the Central Food Laboratory in Kolkata for testing. Fish-sellers have been instructed not to import ‘rohu’ fish from outside. Those with remaining stock have also been asked not to sell the fish to customers,” an FDA official said.
