Natural death, says IIT-Guwahati after student found dead in hostel room

The student who was found dead under mysterious conditions in his room at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati on January 9 died of ‘chronic coronary insufficiency’, the institute said in a statement, citing the autopsy report. The premier institute also extended condolences to the grieving family.

“It is with deep regret that IIT Guwahati shares the unfortunate news of the death of a male student on campus on January 9, 2023. The student was found dead on his bed in his room. The institute has cooperated with the police authorities and the autopsy report has confirmed ‘chronic coronary insufficiency’ as the cause of natural death. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the grieving family,” the statement read.

The B. Tech final year student from Nagpur was found dead in his room in the Dhing hostel block.
