Northeast Frontier Railways Upgrades Signaling Systems for Enhanced Safety and Efficiency

The Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) is taking significant steps to improve safety and efficiency by adopting modern technology to upgrade track signaling systems. Covering divisions in Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar, and Katihar, the NFR is focused on preventing unexpected accidents and ensuring smooth train operations.

Railway signaling, vital for reliable services, is being enhanced through regular automated checks and necessary replacements or upgrades. Supported by Indian Railways, the NFR has made substantial improvements in divisional stations, as evidenced by the successful ‘System Integrity Test’ at Lanka station in January.

Upgrades include the replacement of signaling cables and installation of new ones in various divisions, along with transitioning to integrated Signal LEDs at multiple stations. Notably, changes to electronic interlocking systems have been implemented, aligned with the commissioning of the Unattended Train Control System (UFSBI) in specific blocks.

The NFR’s commitment to these upgrades demonstrates their dedication to providing secure and efficient railway services, ensuring a reliable transportation experience for all passengers.
