NRL May Explore Aviation Fuel from Ethanol in Future

Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), which runs India’s first bamboo-based biorefinery, is considering ethanol-to-jet fuel production in the future, subject to higher ethanol volumes and investment. Currently, its biorefinery capacity is 50 KTA. NRL’s refinery expansion has reached 81% progress, while in 2024–25 it achieved over 100% capacity utilization with record crude processing, diesel, MS, wax, and LPG output. Diesel exports to Bangladesh also doubled to 79 TMT.
