NRL to Start Processing Imported Crude After Expansion by Year-End

Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) will begin processing imported crude oil for the first time after completing its capacity expansion to 9 million tonnes per annum by December 2026. The ₹33,901-crore project includes a new crude distillation unit and infrastructure to process Arab Light and Arab Heavy crude. Imported crude will be sourced mainly through Paradip Port and transported via a 1,640-km pipeline. BPCL will support crude sourcing. The expansion also includes a polypropylene unit and will boost fuel supply in eastern and northeastern India while supporting exports and downstream industries.
