One body was recovered after two brothers drowned while performing ‘Pind Daan’ in Brahmaputra

On Monday, the body of one of the brothers who had been missing for six days was discovered floating in the Brahmaputra River in Assam’s Dibrugarh.

The body has been identified as Diganta Kakoti, who went missing six days ago with his brother while performing a pind daan ceremony for their late mother in Mohanaghat, .

According to sources, Diganta and his brother Ananta Kakoti were performing a pind daan ritual in memory of their late mother at Mohanaghat six days ago when the former slipped and fell into the Brahmaputra River.

Ananta later jumped into the river in an attempt to save his sibling from drowning, but both were swept away by the powerful currents.
