Shillong Airport Expansion to Boost Meghalaya Tourism

Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh called the Shillong airport expansion a game changer, predicting it will create 3,000 jobs in the transport sector and boost tourism. The airport will ease road traffic and attract more visitors. Tourism bodies will be set up in Sohra, Umiam, and Shillong, with Umiam poised to become a key attraction. After resolving technical issues, expansion resumed in September, allowing the airport to handle larger planes like the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
