Teachers in junior colleges back the protest of the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad

The Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) called for the cancellation of the New Pension System (NPS) on December 16, and Asom Junior College Sikshak-Karmachari Santha fully backed the movement.

Santha Utpal Chakraborty President said in a statement, “Pension is not a favour, but it is a right of every employee. In 2005, the central government abolished the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and introduced the NPS. In the line of the central government, the state government too introduced NPS for the state government employees, thus making the way for betrayal for the teachers and employees. A MLA, MP, or minister serves for five years and still gets a pension. But the employees who served the government for so many years and, after retirement, gets a very meagre pension under the NPS. We support SAKP’s agitation in December at Narengi, where we will be fully supporting it.”
