Two ACS Officers Suspended for Unauthorized Leave in Assam

The Assam state government has suspended two ACS officers, Jharnajyoti Patgiri and Pinky Dutta, with immediate effect for availing unauthorized leave. Jharnajyoti Patgiri, transferred to Biswanath as Additional District Commissioner, and Pinky Dutta, transferred to Hailakandi, failed to join their new postings and have been on unauthorized leave since February 6, 2024, and December 21, 2023, respectively. The government deemed it necessary to suspend them “in the interest of public service.” Pending departmental proceedings, both officers have been suspended under Rule 6(1)(a) of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964.
