Wild Elephant Rescued from Pit in Kokrajhar

A wild elephant was rescued from a pit in the Kachugaon Forest Division, Kokrajhar district, on Saturday. The elephant had fallen into the pit in the Mainaopuri area and couldn’t escape due to the steep, slippery banks. Forest department personnel and local residents used an earth-mover to dig a path, successfully rescuing the elephant after several hours. The elephant was released back into the forest. The operation was supervised by the forest range officer.
