2 Meghalaya villages declared epicentres of swine fever

The governor of Meghalaya has declared the villages of Dalu and Asiragre under Dalu block in West Garo Hills district as ‘epicenters’ of African swine fever.

The decision was based on the test results of pig tissue samples in Meghalaya by the North Eastern Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Guwahati. Also, to prevent, control and eradicate the disease, the governor announced the decision in exercise of the power conferred under the Section 6 and Section 20 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009.
