Activist Urges Relocation of Illegal Bokakhat Dumping Site

Environmentalist Rohit Choudhury has requested Assam’s Chief Secretary to relocate the Bokakhat Municipal Board’s Latabari dumping site, which violates environmental regulations. Choudhury highlighted that the site, located near the Difloo river and Kaziranga National Park, discards bio-medical waste illegally, endangering public health and wildlife.

The Pollution Control Board of Assam confirmed the improper disposal of hazardous waste in its inspection report. Choudhury emphasized that the dumping violates Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, and called for immediate action to prevent further damage to the region’s ecosystem.
