Repoll in 43 Booths After Phase 1 of Assam Panchayat Polls

Following the first phase of Assam’s Panchayat elections, repolling will be held in 43 polling stations across Hailakandi, Sribhumi, Lakhimpur, Golaghat, and Majuli due to untoward incidents. Assam recorded a 70.19% voter turnout, with Majuli leading at 80.02% and Sonitpur the lowest at 61%. Polls were mostly peaceful, though minor violence was reported in Cachar, Sribhumi, and Sonitpur. Phase 2 will take place on May 7 across 13 districts, with repolling, if needed, scheduled for May 9.
