Gauhati University Leads India’s First Experiment with VECC Superconducting Cyclotron

Gauhati University became the first in India to conduct experiments using the high-energy Superconducting Cyclotron at VECC, Kolkata. Led by Prof. Kushal Kalita, the study explored nuclear fission at energies up to 500 MeV—double that of other Indian facilities. The breakthrough marks a major step in advancing nuclear physics research in India.
