Four Arrested in Suspected Kidney Trafficking Racket in Assam

A joint operation by the Dibrugarh and Tinsukia police busted a suspected illegal human organ trafficking racket in Margherita, leading to the arrest of four alleged brokers. The accused were identified as Zakir Hussain, Shankar Chentanu, Samir Paul, and Gopal Roy.

Police said the accused allegedly tried to take a 35-year-old man from Margherita to sell his kidney by luring him with promises of money and a job. The operation began after the victim’s family lodged a complaint.

Police suspect a larger organ trafficking network may be active across Assam. A case has been registered at Margherita Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
