Anganwadi workers have threatened to continue stage protests

As the Assam State Anganwadi Workers-Assistants’ Union’s non-cooperation protest entered its ninth day on Wednesday across the state’s 31 districts, protesters threatened to take their case to the Directorate of Women and Child Development if their demands were not met by October 14.

Anganwadi workers and assistants, as well as Mini workers from across the state, are protesting in front of the Women and Child Development offices in each district in support of their demands, which include raising their remuneration to Rs 12000, paying the one-time payment to retired workers by October 20, paying gratuity, and regularising their jobs, among other things. Over 400 members of the association protested at the district Women and Child Development office in Beltola, Guwahati, along with the rest of the state.
