Assam Police seize a large quantity of counterfeit Indian currency notes; 2 arrested

With the increase in Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) smugglers, a team from West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) and Jalukbari Outpost conducted a joint drive against FICN on Tuesday and arrested one accused, Mofidul Islam (29) from Lakhimpur. He was apprehended near the Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Khetra in Jalukbari.

According to sources, after questioning Mofidul Islam, it was discovered that Rofikuddin of Laluk Islampur was running the illegal FICN network. He runs the network from a rented house at Mirza Rail Gate. As a result, the rented house was raided, and the team recovered FICN worth Rs 2,16,500 in Rs 500 denominations, as well as one printing machine that mints FICN.
