Cabinet approved Meghalaya Tourism Policy 2023

The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the Meghalaya Tourism Policy 2023 in a bid to provide a much-need fillip to the state’s tourism sector.

Elucidating further, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed that the tourism policy was last made in 2011 and since then, a lot has happened in the tourism sector, thereby bringing out the need for a detailed and contemporary policy.

He said the new policy would give proper shape and structure to the tourism sector by looking into various aspects such as sustainability, employment generation, entrepreneurship, community participation, usage of technology, livelihood and sustainability, etc.

The chief minister argued that in order to achieve these goals, focus needs to be laid on certain areas such as better infrastructure as well as safety of tourists.
