Congress claims Himanta’s wife’s firm received 10 crore central subsidy, but CM denies

  • Assam

On Wednesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was left defending allegations levelled by a slew of Congress members, led by the party’s Lok Sabha deputy leader Gaurav Gogoi, about his wife’s firm receiving Rs 10 crore in credit-linked central subsidies.

Gogoi wrote on X “PM Modi launched the Kisan Sampada scheme to double the income of farmers of India. But in Assam, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma used his influence to help his wife’s firm get Rs 10 crore… Are central government schemes meant to enrich BJP?”.

Sarma was quick to respond with a series of posts contesting Congress’s charge. “I would like to clarify that neither my wife nor the company she is associated with has ever received any financial subsidies from the government of India,”.
