CPM eyeing broader anti-BJP ties in Tripura

The CPM, which ruled Tripura for almost two decades continuously before the BJP wrested power in the state in 2018, is now exploring to be part of a broader anti-BJP alliance in the state for the assembly elections due in March.

After the AICC in-charge of Tripura, Ajoy Kumar, and CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury held talks in Delhi on Sunday in this regard, Yechury along with Prakash Karat attended the Tripura CPM state committee meeting till late Tuesday night to formally firm up the state party’s alliance pitch.
