Declare Khasi as the official language: KAS

The Khasi Authors’ Society has requested that the state government recognise Khasi as one of Meghalaya’s official languages.

On Monday, a delegation of KAS members met with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and raised the demand.

Speaking to reporters following the meeting, KAS President DRL Nonglait stated that English is the state’s official language, while Khasi and Garo are associate official languages under the Meghalaya State Language Act, 2005.
