Fatal Wild Elephant Attack Claims Farmer’s Life in Chirang District

A farmer tragically lost his life in a wild elephant attack at Kuklung in Chirang district, near the Indo-Bhutan border. The incident occurred in the Kuklung forest range close to Manas National Park during the night. The victim, Narzary, was on his way to protect his banana farmland from the threat of wild elephants when the attack occurred. Despite his efforts, the encounter proved fatal. The wild elephant, thought to have ventured from Manas National Park in search of food, led to the unfortunate demise of Narzary.

Local authorities from Ballamguri sub-police station arrived at the scene, recovering the farmer’s body. This incident highlights the growing challenges faced by farmers in the region due to recurrent wild elephant intrusions, raising concerns among the local community.
