Fire Destroys Homes in Jaleswar on Eid

A massive fire on Eid-ul-Fitr reduced two homes, a general store, cash, and documents to ashes in Katarihara village, Jaleswar. The fire broke out at Abdul Awal’s residence after he returned from Eid prayers, causing losses estimated at ₹10 lakh.

An electric short circuit is suspected as the cause. Villagers managed to control the fire, but alleged that firefighters never arrived despite emergency calls. Locals blamed the Lakhipur fire department and electricity authorities for negligence.
