Floods Submerge Six BSF Border Outposts Along India-Bangladesh Border in Assam

Assam Flood

Floodwaters have submerged six Border Outposts (BOPs) of the Border Security Force (BSF) along the India-Bangladesh border in Assam’s Karimganj district due to the Kushiyara river flowing above the danger level following incessant rainfall. The affected BOPs are Stimerghat, Chandsrikona, Charakuri, Jabainpur, Longai, and Jagannathi. The rising water levels, now up to three feet, have created significant challenges for the BSF jawans, who remain on duty around the clock. BSF personnel from Chandsrikona, Jagannathi, and Longai BOPs have relocated their camps to nearby schools. The BSF has been instructed to maintain strict vigilance and seal the boundary, with extra speedboats deployed. Meanwhile, the water resources department is working to block the Kushiyara river’s floodwaters by filling sandbags at Immersion Ghat in Karimganj to protect the town from flooding.
