Green Light for Doloo Greenfield Airport: Site Clearance Granted by Ministry of Civil Aviation

The Steering Committee of the Civil Aviation Ministry, Government of India, has given site clearance for the construction of the international standard Greenfield airport in Doloo, Silchar. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the news on social media, expressing enthusiasm for the transformative connectivity the airport will bring to Barak Valley. Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, endorsed the announcement through a retweet. The site clearance follows the government’s commitment, marked by financial assistance to laborers of Doloo Tea Garden, who were affected by the uprooting of tea bushes for the airport’s construction. Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy noted that this clearance is a significant step toward the realization of the Greenfield airport project.
