Indo-Bangladesh Border Fencing Displaces 82 Families in Meghalaya

The recent construction of the Indo-Bangladesh border fence in South Garo Hills, Meghalaya, has displaced 82 families into the “no man’s zone” between the two countries. Local MLA and Cabinet Minister Rakkam Sangma criticized the project, stating that the fencing was not built according to guidelines, leading to this unintended displacement. Sangma plans to raise the issue with the Home Ministry to ensure the families are relocated and protected. The incident has sparked concerns over the rights and security of the affected families.
