Joint Army-Police Operation Recovers Explosives near Assam-Mizoram Border

On Sunday, the Indian Army and Assam Police conducted a joint operation in the Dholai assembly constituency of Cachar district, Assam, near the Assam-Mizoram border. Acting on confidential military intelligence, the operation aimed to recover hidden explosives, resulting in the retrieval of 2,900 detonators and 13 kg of gunpowder buried underground at Rajghat.

The targeted area was near a farmhouse belonging to Salim Uddin, a local criminal figure known as the “uncrowned king” or “Betaaj Badshah.” Despite the successful recovery of the explosives, Salim managed to escape, prompting authorities to launch a manhunt for his apprehension.

Salim has a history of involvement in illegal activities, particularly drug trafficking, for which he had previously been arrested and served a jail sentence. However, it is reported that he resumed his illegal operations after being released on bail. The joint operation underscores the challenges in dealing with individuals like Salim and their persistent engagement in criminal enterprises.
