Jorhat-Majuli Bridge Project Set for Revival with MORTH Decision Pending

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured renewed efforts to restart the stalled Jorhat-Majuli Bridge project. During a meeting in New Delhi with a delegation led by MP Rameswar Teli, Majuli MLA Bhuban Gam, and community leaders, Gadkari promised a decision on resuming construction within a week.

The 8-km bridge, vital for connecting Majuli and Jorhat, has been stalled since September after the UP State Bridge Corporation withdrew. Estimated at ₹925 crore, the project aims to transform connectivity for Majuli, the world’s largest river island. The Centre may issue a fresh tender to expedite completion, bringing hope to residents awaiting this dream project.
