Mising Autonomous Council Term Extended by One Year

Despite growing demands for elections, the Assam government has extended the term of the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) by one year. Citing incomplete electoral processes after delimitation, the government formed an interim committee led by Sunil Pegu as Chairman and Paramananda Chayengia as Chief Executive Councillor. The committee will function until elections are held.
