On October 7, a UNESCO team will arrive in Assam to visit the Charaideo Maidam, which has been nominated for World Heritage Site status. The team will evaluate and examine the Charaideo Maidam based on the dossier that the Assam Government sent to the UNESCO headquarters in Paris earlier this year via the Government of India.
The UNESCO team will be accompanied by an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) team and assisted by officials from the Government of Assam’s Directorate of Archaeology. The district administrations of Sivasagar and Charaideo will provide logistical assistance.
