Royal Bengal Tiger Spotted in Brahmaputra

Devotees and priests at Umananda Temple in Guwahati rpoted a Royal Bengal Tiger on Tuesday morning as a tiger swam to the small Brahmaputra island where the landmark is located.

Fear consumed a ferryload of devotees after a few construction workers sounded the alarm when they spotted the tiger swimming towards the island.

Police and forest authorities were alerted and 40 people were evacuated by the ferry. Foresters tracked down the tiger after an over 6-hour hunt, tranquilised it, and took it to the Guwahati zoo.
