The All Assam Electricity Consumer Association requests that the AERC (FPPPA) regulation 2023 be repealed

The AERC Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (FPPPA) Regulation 2010 amendment does not benefit power consumers. The All Assam Electricity Consumer Association (AACEA) has brought this to light.

According to AACEA, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) can now raise power tariffs without complying with AERC following the amendment of the regulation in the name of FPPPA. When amending this regulation, AERC did not consider public or consumer opinion. The draught AERC (FPPPA) regulation for 2023 was not made public and was amended behind closed doors. Previously, APDCL was required to notify customers about the details of the increase in fuel and power purchases. However, now that the regulation has been amended, APDCL can raise the rate of power tariff in the name of FPPPA, which is a one-sided decision.
