The CRPF will replace state cops along the disputed Assam-Meghalaya border

Assam and Meghalaya agreed on Saturday to withdraw state police forces deployed along the interstate boundary where disputes have yet to be resolved in order to prevent border clashes, even as both governments approved a redrawn boundary in one of the areas where the row has been settled.

Both states also agreed to delegate to the CBI the investigation into the Mukroh violence in November 2022, in which six people were killed, rather than the ongoing judicial inquiry.
