Tragic Lightning Strikes Claim One Life, Injure Six in Cachar District

Severe lightning and thunderstorms wreaked havoc across various areas in Cachar district on Sunday, resulting in one fatality and injuries to at least six individuals. A woman from Rajghat village, identified as Sakhi Begum (35), lost her life after a tree fell on her house. Meanwhile, six tea laborers in Digunchora Garden were struck by lightning, with two reported to be in critical condition. Udharbondh legislator Mihir Kanti Shome visited the Silchar Medical College and Hospital to inquire about the injured persons’ health status.
