UPPL Wins Sidli By-Election, Deals Blow to BPF

UPPL candidate Nirmal Kumar Brahma triumphed in the Sidli by-election, defeating BPF’s Suddho Kumar Basumatary by 37,016 votes.

Brahma attributed the victory to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s development-focused policies and UPPL president Pramod Boro’s leadership. He predicted the loss would weaken BPF, prompting its members to switch parties.

Brahma vowed to prioritize development in Sidli and expressed confidence in UPPL’s strengthened position for the 2025 BTC elections.
