Court Rejects Bail Plea in Zubeen Garg Death Case

A fast-track court on April 30 rejected the bail plea of Shyamkanu Mahanta in the high-profile case related to the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.
The court cited concerns that the accused might abscond, noting that he allegedly travelled from Singapore to Malaysia after the incident. The prosecution also claimed Mahanta provided liquor to Zubeen Garg despite knowing about his epilepsy condition.
The court additionally ordered the attachment of certain assets and bank accounts linked to the accused. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for May 2.
