Assam Cabinet Announces Key Decisions, Including Expanded Holidays and VRS Approval

The Assam Cabinet expanded the 2025 holiday list to 36 public holidays and seven restricted holidays. Significant cultural festivals, including Ali-Aye-Ligang in 11 districts, will now be public holidays.

The Cabinet approved a ₹110 crore Voluntary Retirement Scheme for Agriculture Marketing Board employees and cleared ₹115 lakh in outstanding dues for 108 Ambulance services.

Hojai’s district headquarters will be renamed “Srimanta Shankardeva Nagar.” Additionally, ₹223.26 crore was allocated for Phase 3 of the Assam Microfinance Incentive Scheme, aiding over 78,000 beneficiaries.
