Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurates Lichubagan Distribution Reservoir

The Lichubagan reservoir, with a daily distribution capacity of 4.5 lakh litres, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as part of the JICA-Assisted South Central Guwahati Water Supply Project to provide clean and safe drinking water to the residents of Guwahati.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM stated that a 130-kilometer-long distribution network has been established to facilitate the distribution of water from the reservoir. The Lichubagan Distribution Zone is expected to serve 20,000 households, he said, adding that while the overall Lichubagan Zone will be completed in three phases, the first phase is complete today. This initial phase will include 7 District Metering Areas (DMA) that will supply potable water to 6,500 households in the Distribution Zone.
