Assam Declares ‘Kaji Nemu’ as State Fruit to Boost Global Recognition

Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora announced on Tuesday that ‘Kaji Nemu,’ a variety of citrus lemon, has been officially recognized as the state fruit of Assam. The decision was made during the seventh day of the budget session of the Assam Legislative Assembly. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the unique aroma and antioxidant properties of Kaji Nemu, expressing confidence that this recognition would enhance the global standing of Assam’s lemon, contributing to increased self-dependency and production in the region.
