Assam Rallies Behind Child Marriage-Free India Campaign

Thousands across Assam joined the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat campaign to eradicate child marriage. Organized by the Just Rights for Children (JRC) alliance, the initiative reached 3,900 villages in 28 districts through rallies, marches, and awareness drives.

Assam, with one of India’s highest child marriage rates (31.8%), is leveraging partnerships between NGOs, local authorities, and community leaders to combat this issue. Events featured pledge ceremonies and advocacy by survivors, with over 7,000 participants in key districts.

Launched nationally by Union Minister Annpurna Devi, the campaign aims to reach 25 crore people and foster lasting change through awareness and collaboration.
