Gauhati HC has directed the Health Department to appoint selected ICU technicians

A two-judge Gauhati High Court bench, led by Chief Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice Kardak Ete, recently directed the Assam government’s Health and Family Welfare Department to appoint the 14 appellant ICU Technicians chosen in 2020.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government of Assam, Health and Family Welfare Department, created 800 “Health Workers,” including 128 “Laboratory Technicians (ICU Technical)” to operate 32 newly created ICU units. The Director of Health Services, Assam, issued an advertisement on July 10, 2020, for the recruitment of 640 Staff Nurses and 128 Laboratory Technicians (ICU Technical).
