In Guwahati, the Excise Department is conducting a campaign against illegal liquor sales

In an effort to control the illegal sale of spirits in Guwahati, the excise department recently conducted enforcement drives. The drive focused primarily on the Basistha area, including Beharbari, Jayanagar, Beltola, Khanapara, Tipura Road, and Lokhra.

Approximately 17 litres of illegally distilled (ID) spirits were seized, according to sources. During the drive, a total fine of Rs 4,000 was collected as penalties, and three cases were found under Section 61B. No one was arrested during the drive in accordance with Section 53(1)(a) of the A.E. Act 2018. R
