One sentenced a 7-year prison term in West Garo Hills for kidnapping

A resident of Phulbari in West Garo Hills who was earlier accused of kidnapping a 14 year old girl and keeping her in an undisclosed location, has been convicted to serve 7 years in jail along with other fines.

According to the police, the 14-year-old girl was abducted and held captive in 2017 by Md Anishur Rahman, also known as Rahul, the son of Md Sarhab Ali of Chibinang market in West Garo Hills. A case was registered in this regard under Tura Women Police Station Case No. 17 (3) 2017 u/s 366A/368 IPC R/W Sec. 3(a) /4 POCSO Act, and UB/WPSI Renu D Momin was given the task of conducting the investigation.
