Retro floating bar destroyed in Guwahati close to Lachit Ghat

On Sunday night, a fire broke out on the floating restaurant-bar Kaamakaazi, which was moored close to the Lachit Ghat in Guwahati. The entire property was destroyed. According to sources, the fire began at around ten o’clock at night and quickly spread throughout the whole boat.

It was reported that seven fire tenders were called into action, and that they put out the fire and stopped it from spreading to anything in the vicinity. The incident did not result in any reported injuries or fatalities, but it is estimated that lakhs of rupees worth of property damage were caused. During the incident, reports of explosions in multiple cylinders were also made, which may have contributed to the flames spreading more quickly.
