Rising Pollution in Mornai Threatens Health, Wildlife

Pollution from Gulshan Polyols Ltd. and Seas Biotech Pvt. Ltd. at the Industrial Growth Centre, Mornai, has raised concerns among residents, Sainik School Goalpara cadets, and activists.

Reports highlight severe air and water pollution, allegedly due to ineffective effluent treatment. Contaminated water has caused health risks, disrupted elephant corridors, and damaged biodiversity. Increased human-elephant conflicts have resulted in fatalities in nearby areas.

Local groups and activists, led by Nani Kr Das, plan to approach the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The Pollution Control Board is investigating and collecting water samples for further action.
