Workshop on Urban Flood Management Concludes in Guwahati

A weeklong workshop on urban flood management using remote sensing and GIS was held in Guwahati. Organized by Pandu College’s Department of Geography, Arya Vidyapeeth College, and Skyline Institute of Geo-Informatics, it featured experts from Gauhati University, Liverpool University, and DDMA Kamrup.

The workshop included 16 sessions covering theoretical and practical aspects. A field trip to Deepor Beel and Kalmoni River provided firsthand insights into urban water systems. A panel discussion addressed local waterbody conditions.

Key dignitaries included Dr. Sanchya Jyoti Bora, Dr. Pradip Kr Bhattacharyya, and Dr. Ravindrra Nath Tiwary. The workshop concluded with 15 actionable recommendations to mitigate Guwahati’s urban flooding, to be submitted to government authorities.
