Protest Erupts Over Sand Mining in Dudhnoi River

Residents of Damra, led by the Mothers’ Union and GSU, staged a protest rally against sand mining in the Dudhnoi River. Supported by NGOs, ABSU, KMSS, and over 1,000 villagers, the rally highlighted issues such as water depletion and erosion caused by illegal sand extraction.

Protesters criticized authorities for inaction despite repeated complaints, alleging corruption and negligence by forest and transport departments. ABSU and GSU leaders demanded immediate action to halt sand mining and warned of intensified resistance if concerns remain unaddressed.
